Joe Biden tells Donald Trump he’s ‘the worst president America has ever had’ during fiery presidential debate

JOE BIDEN has branded Donald Trump America’s worst ever president during a heated row over the President’s alleged $750-a-year tax payments.

The Democrat candidate made the remarks during a chaotic and bad tempered first presidential debate which turned increasingly personal.

Responding to a report from the New York Times which alleged Trump paid just $750 tax in the year he was elected President, Biden said: “The tax code that put him in a position where he pays less tax than the money a school teacher makes.

“(Trump) does take advantage of the tax code. I’m going to make sure we invest in the people that need the help. Why didn’t you do it in the last 25 years. You’re the worst president America has ever had.”

Trump was quick to dismiss the claims, insisting he paid “millions of dollars” in taxes, including a contribution of $38million in a single year.

He also pledged to share further details of his finances, despite being embroiled in several court battles to keep such information private.

The New York Times report claimed Trump paid just $750 in federal income tax in 2016 and 2017 – the same amount as someone earning an annual salary of $9,800.

It also claimed he paid zero income tax for 10 of the last 15 years by using losses made by some of his businesses to offset taxes due.

According to the report, Trump’s hotel and golf resort in Doonbeg, Ireland, has been running at a significant loss for decades.

Trump hit back at Biden, comparing his four years as President to the Irish-American democrat’s five decades in the senate, retorting: “In 47 months, I’ve done more than you’ve done in 47 years.’

The often-ugly exchanges, in which both candidates interrupted each other, also saw Trump launch a personal attack on Biden’s son, Hunter, bringing up the fact he was discharged from the US Navy after testing positive for cocaine.

Biden defended his son, responding angrily: "My son, like a lot of people, like a lot of people you know at home, had a drug problem."

Initial exit polls suggest the debate has done little to sway opinion with Biden still leading Trump ahead of the November 3 presidential election.
