'Pop-up Guinness Storehouse' to be set up shop in Cork this Christmas

A MINI Guinness Storehouse is coming to Cork city in the form of a Christmas pop-up.

It'll be situated at Finn's Corner sports shop, which was forced to close earlier this year after 145 years of business.

It's expected that the pop-up will be open from next week - when restrictions are lifted - and will run until mid-January.

The site will offer an similar experience to the one you'd getting visiting the official Guinness Storehouse at St James' Gate in Dublin, albeit without the lure of a swanky Gravity Bar.

You'll be able to sample some of the Black Stuff and pick a few bits and bobs for any Guinness-lovers at Christmas.

The news may come as a surprise to locals, with Cork seen as something of a haven for non-Guinness stouts such as Murphy's and Beamish & Crawford, but the attraction will likely prove a hit, particular as trips to Dublin's storehouse potentially off the cards due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The pop-up acts as a foreshadowing of Finn's Corner's future. The iconic site will largely be used for hospitality and accommodation, if proposals lodged with Cork City Council are given the green light.

Meanwhile, Guinness is also planning a similar popup at Kildare Village.
