Radio phone-in caller proposes UK ‘invade’ Ireland to solve Post-Brexit border issues

A RADIO phone-in caller left LBC host Tom Swarbrick stunned after suggesting the solution to the Irish border issue is to invade Ireland.

Speaking during a three-way debate involving another caller, the Remain-backing Steve put forward what he saw as the perfect answer to the Irish border question in a post-Brexit world.

“We could invade [Ireland],” Steve said during his call on LBC.

“We’ve invaded Iraq, we’ve invaded Afghanistan, why not Ireland?"

The suggestion staggered fellow caller Peter, who is pro-Brexit, who was quick to brand Steve’s extreme plan as “stupid”.

“You’re being stupid now,” Peter replied. “What a stupid thing for the guy to say.”

Steve refused to back down though.

“It’s not stupid,” he replied. “War is the ultimate answer to a problem.”

“I voted Remain because I knew this would be a problem.”

Peter’s responded: “If you’re the sort of person who voted Remain, it shows how stupid people are who voted that way.”

The comments come just a few months after an Irish caller contacted the radio station in a bid to remind Brexiteers of the importance of the Good Friday Agreement.

"Iain Duncan Smith, David Davis, Owen Paterson, Priti Patel - these people, they are criminally irresponsible when they talk about the backstop,” Martin from Mayo said.

"It's a fantasy land, there is no upside to Brexit. It's a horrible concoction of things that finally came together."
