THE Irish community in Cardiff continued their commemorations for the victims of the Great Famine today by scattering flowers in the sea, just off the Welsh coast.

After yesterday's commemorations on land, the group decided to commemorate the 1million Famine victims on water, to remember those who died aboard the famine ships crossing the Irish Sea to Britain.

Along with the million who died, a further one million emigrated to escape the conditions of the Famine - mainly to Britain and the US.
