Westlife reunion ‘definitely going to happen’ says Louis Walsh – or is it?

POP mogul Louis Walsh sent Westlife fans wild on Friday by claiming the band are reuniting.

The band's former manager was speaking to RSVP Magazine when he said a reunion was ‘definitely’ happening, but couldn’t say when it would be.

"A Westlife reunion is definitely going to happen,” said the X Factor judge, “but I have no idea when.

"I'm still really good friends with all of the lads.

"I was chatting to Mark Feehily last night about the Christmas album he's bringing out, and it’s amazing. I'd forgotten how talented he is.

"I think the reunion will be great, but it’s up to them to decide when they will do it."

Fans went wild at the news, excited at seeing the Flying Without Wings singers together for the first time since they split in 2011.

Unfortunately, former member Nicky Byrne appeared to dash their hopes.

The RTÉ 2fm presenter tweeted: “Shame this Westlife news is not true, they were always my guilty pleasure.”

However he followed up with a nostalgic tweet featuring an old clip of the band recording a promotional video.

The clip was recorded before Brian McFadden left the band in 2004.

Westlife, who were formed in Dublin in 1998, scored 14 number one singles in Britain.

Their 10 studio albums all reached the top two in Britain, eight of them hitting the top spot.
