Donegal GAA has stated on their website that they are welcoming applicants to apply for the role of Donegal's Senior Football Team Manager. The intercounty team has set an application deadline of 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023.
The 2012 All-Ireland champions have not had a manager since Paddy Carr and his replacement, Aidan O'Rourke, left the job. Carr made the decision to leave the post in the aftermath of the team's heavy defeat at home to Mayo last October. Donegal were relegated from Division One of the Allianz Football League to Division Two.
Carr's replacement O'Rourke also walked away after the All-Ireland championship defeat to Tyrone, a 1-18 to 0-13 loss in MacCumhaill Park last weekend.
A statement on the intercounty website said, "CLG Dhún na nGall are now inviting expressions of interest from potential candidates interested in becoming the next Dún na nGall GAA Senior Football Team Manager. The closing date for expressions is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, the 21st of July, 2023. Expressions of interest should be sent by email only to [email protected]. Enquiries beyond the deadline may be declined. It also lies within the remit of the Coiste CLG Dhún na nGall to identify potential candidates for this role."

Donegal GAA chairman Fergus McGee also admitted earlier this week that hopefully 'quality' people will put themselves forward for the position.
“It is the most important task for the GAA in the county. Hopefully, we will have quality candidates to interview, and after we receive applications, we will then put in place an interview panel,” he said. "I would like that panel to be a five-person panel with a strong football pedigree, and it would be my wish that one of the panel would be from outside the county. The matter will be up for discussion at our next Co Committee meeting, which is set for Monday, July 10th."
