Kelleher expected to leave Liverpool

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Ireland's Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to leave Liverpool this summer.

The Cork native has been Liverpool's number two goalkeeper since making his debut for the club. The Ireland keeper has struggled to displace Alisson Becker as the undisputed number one on Merseyside.

Kelleher has been linked with a move away for a number of months, and according to The Mail, "Liverpool are looking for a goalkeeper to compete with Alisson for next season."

The same report says, "Kelleher seemingly believes the time is now to forge his own path and become a regular starter. Unfortunately for Kelleher, that’s labelled an 'impossible' task at Liverpool given the presence of Alisson."

The 24-year-old Corkman said recently about his Liverpool future, "I'm not sure what's happening yet. I'm still finishing this season, and then we will have conversations after that to see what happens.

"Obviously, I need to play these few games and see what happens with these and maybe decide after that."

Wherever the Ireland keeper decides to go, Liverpool fans will never forget his contribution during the quadruple chase last year.

Kelleher scored the winning spot-kick in an epic EFL Cup final shootout against Chelsea at Wembley and also helped Liverpool win the FA Cup against the same side months later.

Liverpool play Chelsea tonight at 8pm.

That game is live on Sky.
