Eunan O'Kane breaking new ground at Bournemouth

DERRY’S EUNAN O'Kane scored for Bournemouth in their 2-1 victory over West Brom to send them into the quarter finals of the Capital One Cup for the first time.

Georgios Samaras' shot took a deflection off Tommy Elphick to gift Albion a late equaliser, only for Callum Wilson to race clear and blast Bournemouth's winner.

Bournemouth thumped Birmingham with a record 8-0 victory to climb to fourth in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday - then dumped out their top-flight opponents to tread new ground in the League Cup.

Republic of Ireland Under-21 cap O'Kane's goal was just rewards for his side's industry and ingenuity in the face of superior opposition.

But just when the visitors found respite, Bournemouth broke at pace, and replacement Wilson blasted home to wrestle back the lead.

Former Irish international Ian Harte, 37, was also in action for the winners.
