Six Nations 2014: Peter O'Mahony injury concern for Ireland

PETER O'Mahony is the only serious injury concern facing Ireland ahead of their next Six Nations game against Italy.

The Munster captain went off midway through the second half during Saturday’s 13-10 defeat against England at Twickenham.

Ireland team management confirmed that O’Mahony suffered a hamstring strain and will be assessed by the medical team during the week.

Brian O’Driscoll also left the pitch towards the end of the game after suffering from cramping in his calf. His fitness will also be monitored this week but it is believed that he will be fit to face Italy.

The two-week break before the next fixture will be advantageous for both injured players.

The Ireland team will gather on Wednesday for a two-day camp in Belfast.

Joe Schmidt's Ireland side host Italy in Dublin on Saturday 8 March.

Their final game is against France in Paris on 15 March.
