LISTEN: Gaeltacht school’s mesmerising rendition of Adele hit “Hello” in Irish is going viral

A GAELTACHT school in Connemara, Co. Galway, has recently been making a name for itself by creating impressive reinterpretations of iconic songs through the Irish language.

The latest offering of Coláiste Lurgan’s talented students, a Gaelic take on Adele’s chart-topping hit “Hello”, has already amassed hundreds of thousands of hits on YouTube after it was posted last week.

Previous offerings from the school have included incredible covers of famous hits such as Sia’s Chandelier, Hozier’s Someone New and Wake Me Up by famed Swedish DJ Avicii.

The Irish language students’ cover of Wake Me Up now sits at an incredible 5.3 million views.

As if Coláiste Lurgan’s students weren’t already busy enough, they will soon be making the jump from our social media feeds to the small screen.

Lurgan Beo—their new show—kicks off on the TG4 channel in Ireland on September 31.
