Here are the winners from last night's RTE Choice Music Awards

THE BEST of Irish music in 2017 gathered at Dublin's Vicar Street last night as the best album of the year and the best song of the year were chosen by a panel of industry experts.

After stunning performances from each of the Album of the Year nominees, the votes were counted and the best Irish Song of the Year was announced first.

Tullamore trio Chasing Abbey took the prize for their hit That Good Thing, a song which has echoed through nightclubs all over Ireland since its release last February.

Here are the lads captured with their well-deserved award.

The biggest prize of the night, as has always been the case, was the Album of the Year award.

The shortlist, as you may have seen from our preview yesterday, was long and diverse, and included a mix of more established acts such as James Vincent McMorrow and Fionn Regan, as well as newcomers such as Lankum and Talos.

The winner, however, was Ships. The electronic duo of Simon Cullen and Sorca McGrath have been writing and performing together since 2012. Recordingmixing and producing from their home in Dublin and playing festivals, gigs and interesting spaces around the island as they go, they were a worthy winner of the hotly contested prize.
