Bigamist who was caught out after Ant and Dec TV appearance is jailed

A BIGAMIST who told his wife he was working in Dubai was rumbled after his wife spotted him on TV with another woman.

Daniel Gundry, 39, from Ashford, Surrey, has now been jailed for six months.

Mr Gundry was spotted by his wife, Helen Gundry, during an episode of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway in March 2016.

He was on the show with Susan Brooker, who he had married in the Seychelles after he had forged documents, a court heard.

Bizarrely the segment he appeared in was for a surprise wedding, for Ms Brooker’s sister.

Magistrates said he deceived both his wife and Ms Brooker.

Mr Gundry and his wife Helen were married in 1998. Despite having lived apart for several years, Warrington Magistrates Court heard how he told his wife he wanted to get back together.

However after she spotted him on the show when she believed he was in Dubai, she discovered through social media that he had married again.

Both Mrs Gundry and Ms Brooker made complaints to Cheshire Police.

Mr Gundry initially said he had only had a blessing in the Seychelles and denied he had married Ms Brooker, but later admitted bigamy.

The district judge said he had caused both women "embarrassment, shame and humiliation".
