Body of man discovered on grounds of school in Ireland

THE body of a middle-aged man has been discovered on the grounds of a school in Cork.

The man, in his early 50s, was found dead at a secondary school on Blackrock Road at around 10am this morning.

His body was removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination is due to take place this afternoon.

It's understood that the deceased was known to local homelessness services and a bed was available for him over the weekend, reports the Irish Times.

His death is not believed to be weather-related as paraphernalia related to drug use was located nearby.

It's not yet known which educational institution was the scene of the man's death, but there are at least three secondary schools in the area.

The matter is being investigated as a sudden death, according to Gardaí.
