British police hunt two men with Irish accents after woman subjected to serious sexual assault

POLICE in Britain are hunting two men with Irish accents after a woman in her 30s was subjected to a serious sexual assault.

The incident happened at around 1.30am on Sunday, June 19, as the woman was walking through Marford Playing Fields in Marford Road, Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire.

She was approached by two males who are reported to have sexually assaulted her before running off towards the River Lea.

Police say both males spoke with Irish accents, were slim and wearing dark-coloured clothing.

One of the males was described as around 5ft 9in tall, while the other was wearing something covering his face, possibly a bandana.

The victim is being supported by specially-trained officers.

'Stay vigilant'

"We are still piecing together what happened but in the meantime I urge the public to stay vigilant," said Detective Chief Inspector Sam Khanna.

"I know this news will be alarming but please be assured we are working around the clock to find those responsible.

"We would like to hear from witnesses and those with information about what happened.

"Any information, no matter how small it might seem, could be vital.

"If you were driving in the area around the time of the incident and have a dash cam, please check it and get in contact if you spot something that might help."
