Thirty three Irish politicians owe €4000 in unpaid drinks tab at Dáil bar

A GROUP of 20 TDs and 13 senators from the previous Irish government owe €4000 to the Dáil bar.

According to Freedom of Information figures obtained by the Irish Times, the now defunct 31st Irish Dáil racked up €5405 in bar tabs before February when the Dáil dissolved.

By March 10 the bill had shrunk to €4000 but that amount is still upaid.

The figures also indicate that a fifth of the outstanding bill is owed by just one individual, rumored to be a returning TD, whose bill came to €802.

The bar in Leinster House is open to Irish TDs and Senators with a pint of Guinness costing €4.40

Current rules in the Irish parliament state that sitting Oireachtas, Irish TD’s or Senators, may use tabs when purchasing food and drink, which they must pay back.

€300 of the remaining debt is estimated to be a hangover from the 30th Dáil, which concluded in 2011.
