Gardaí investigate after homeless man found dead in waiting area of Irish hospital

GARDAÍ have launched an investigation after a homeless man was found dead in a chair in a waiting area of Tallaght University hospital.

The man was discovered unresponsive in the accident and emergency waiting area at around 4.30pm on Saturday, according to Dublin Live.

The man, aged in his 40s, was believed to be taking shelter in the hospital and was not waiting to be seen.

Gardaí have said a post mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death, although foul play in not suspected.

In a statement to RTÉ, the hospital said it was co-operating with gardaí and has launched an internal review into the circumstances of the incident.
