The world has fallen in love with this giant cow called Knickers

A GIGANTIC cow by the name of Knickers has taken the internet by storm.

Standing tall at 6ft 4in (194cm), Knickers is actually technically a steer, which is a neutered male, and weighs a whopping 1,400 kg (220st).

Knickers' size actually helped him avoid a grizzlier fate too - he's actually too big to be killed and sold as meat. He's literally too big to fit in the meat processors.

When owner Geoff Pearson tried to auction the seven-year-old off, potential buyers admitted to being put off by the fact he was simply too big to handle.

Speaking to the local press, Pearson explained the origins of Knickers' distinctive name.

"When he was young, when we first got him, we had a Brahman steer [a breed of cattle] which was a friend of his," he said. "So his name was bra... so we [had] bra and knickers.

"We never thought he would turn into a big knickers."

A popular fixture at his farm in rural Western Australia, Knickers stands tall among the other cattle and is thought to be the biggest steer in the country.

He's now set to enjoy a long and happy life at the Lake Preston feedlot in Myalup, 136km (85 miles) south of Perth.

Best of all, Knickers has been given a job as a "coach", which is a steer tasked with leading other cattle around the farm.

Much of that is down to Knickers' pure animal magnetism - other cattle tend to follow him around the paddocks in their hundreds.

The internet has certainly fallen in love with the big man with a raft of celebrities taking to Twitter to show their appreciation.

This may not be the last we hear of Knickers either, with Pearson predicting the giant cow will be around for a few more years to come.

He's not the tallest of them all though - that honour belongs to a steer by the name of Bellino who lives in Italy and stands tall at 2.027m.
