IRELAND IS set to enjoy near-Mediterranean temperatures this week with Met Eireann forecasting temperatures of up to 17c this week.
The Irish weather forecaster is predicting dry and sunny conditions this Monday, February 25th, with the highest temperatures ranging between 13c and 16c.
And, according to the Irish Mirror, it could be about to get even warmer in the west of Ireland with the news provider predicting warmer temperatures than those being experienced in the Irish capital.
A Met Eireann spokesperson told the newspaper: "Monday, will be dry with sunny spells breaking through after a misty and foggy start for some areas, especially in parts of the east and south.
"Maximum temperatures 13C to 16C, possibly up to 17C depending on sunshine, but cooler on east and south coasts due to onshore breezes and/or lingering mist and fog.
"Light to moderate south-easterly winds will be fresh to strong along Atlantic coasts."
Despite the exotic comparisons, the national forecaster has warned that temperatures will plunge to as low as 1c by Monday evening with a cloud night expected except in the east and north where temperatures are expected to drop further.
"Dry in most areas, with clear spells, especially in the midlands and east,” Met Eireann said.
"A little patchy light rain or drizzle will occur along the west Connacht coast. Patches of mist and fog also, locally dense in southern counties.
"Minimum temperatures 1C to 4C, with a patchy frost possible where clear spells prevail, but lows of 6C to 8C under cloudier skies near Atlantic coasts."
