TV FUNNYMAN James Corden’s first duty as an honorary Irishman will be to stop people saying “top o’ the morning to ya”, he revealed.
The Late Late Show with James Corden host was bestowed the honour in California on Friday, February 26 for a spectacular performance of Irish dancing on his show in September.

Corden, 37, was joined by a host of well-known Irish faces on the green carpet at the 11th annual Oscar Wilde Party in Santa Barbara to receive the award.
Actresses Amy Huberman and Alison Doody were among the Irish stars present on the night.
The yearly event is a pre-Oscars bash and Irish celebratory night for well-known faces.
“I’m honoured...” Corden told RTÉ TEN. “But I’m mostly, it makes me feel embarrassed for every time myself, or any of my countrymen, have said to anyone Irish ‘top o’ the morning to ya’.

“I cannot begin to imagine how annoying that must be and I will endeavour to stop that and if there’s anything I can do, as an honorary Irishman, I will spread the message that it’s not funny.”
His nomination for the honorary Irishman award was announced by the US-Ireland Alliance in November ahead of the awards.
US-Ireland Alliance president Trina Vargo said at the time: “He deserves to be our 'honorary Irishman' this year just on the basis of the courage it takes to perform with some of the finest Irish dancers in the world.”
