Man charged with murder of Irish woman in London

POLICE have charged a man accused of murdering an Irish woman in London over the weekend.

Leeann Foley died in Holloway on Saturday, November 1 after suffering fatal gunshot wounds.

On Sunday, November 2 Richard Conroy, of Loraine Road in Holloway, was charged with her murder.

The 38-year-old is believed to have known Ms Foley, who hails from Co. Cork.

Ms Foley, 32, who was working as an accountant in London, was found badly injured at an address in Loraine Road, close to the Arsenal Emirates Stadium football ground, at around 9.30am on Saturday morning.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, despite the efforts of police officers who administered first aid until the arrival of an ambulance.

A post mortem examination later gave the cause of her death as gunshot wounds.

Conroy appeared before Highbury Magistrates Court yesterday (Monday, November 3).
