Man dead following road collision

The man was in his late 70s before he died.

Gardaí have launched an investigation following a single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on the Ballyhooley Road at the junction with Gordon's Hill, Mayfield, Cork.

The incident happened at 8.15 a.m. on June 14.

The car struck a gate post and the female driver in her late 70s was removed to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries.

The male passenger believed to be in his late 70s was fatally injured and his body remains at the scene.

The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are en route to the scene.
