Man who died in Longford collision has been named

THE life of one Irish man in his twenties was sadly lost on Saturday morning.

It's believed the collision occurred at 12.45am on Saturday morning, in the small town of Lissagernal outside Newtownforbes in Co. Longford.

Gardaí aid: "The driver of the car, a 22-year-old man, who was the only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Garda forensic collision investigators officers are at the crash site and the road is currently closed to traffic. Local diversions are currently in place."

Gardaí were appealing to anyone with information to come forward however the victim of the collision has since been named.

The young man has been identified as Darragh Healy, an Irishman from Roosky in Co. Roscommon.

The 22-year-old was an avid fisherman and is being mourned by his friends and family.
