And if proof of that was ever required, this footage of a man accidentally shooting himself in the groin, moments after holstering his firearm, should do it.
Submitted to the website thetruthaboutguns.com by an anonymous reader from Nevada, the clip starts with the man in question expertly loading a GLOCK 43.
Having holstered the gun, the unknown man somehow contrives to shoot himself in the groin while bending over.
He walks over to a shelf and bends down to pick something up before the gun suddenly goes off with a loud bang.
In the footage, the man can be seen visibly jolting backward as the bullet hits, before calling out for help.
"F***! D*** it! Call 911 right now!" he says.
He clutches his belt in pain before taking off the belt and removing the gun's magazine from inside his trousers.
An ambulance is called while a woman rushes to his aid.
A woman rushes to his side and brings out what appears to be medical tape.
"Where were you shot? Talk to me," she asks.
"I don't know!" he replies.
It later emerged that the bullet penetrated the man's groin in a through-and-through wound.
He's now recovering in hospital where he is said to be in a stable condition.
It could have been worse. Since 2010, an estimated eight men in the United States have shot their penises off in gun-related accidents.
