REDHEADS rejoice! New ginger emojis have finally been confirmed as part of the new list for 2018.
With around 10 per cent of Irish people having red hair, these are issues many people from Ireland can relate to.
Even when it comes to the humble emoji, redheads have been overlooked.
However that has now been rectified after Emojipedia revealed redheads were included among 157 new emojis.
Announced this week by the Unicode Consortium, the latest release marks the first time new components are available for hair colour.
Options are provided for red hair, curly hair, white hair, and baldness and these are available for use in sequences for men and women of any skin tone.
Users can expect to see the new emojis on their phones in the second half of the year.
Needless to say social media users were excited about the news, even if they can't use the ginger emojis just yet.

This is the MOST exciting news I've seen all week! Redhead emoji is finally on the table after a campaign for ginger equality. We are being recognised. #RedheadEmoji https://t.co/qbioIEBjFJ pic.twitter.com/vX8BceetUb

Be alerted that I will be responding to all texts and tweets exclusively with the redhead emoji for, like, the first week after these are released. https://t.co/tjiAqQ4Coi
