Suspect arrested following death of Antrim man in Brighton is released on bail

A 60-YEAR-OLD man arrested in connection with the death of a Co. Antrim man in Brighton has been released on bail until September 30.

The dead man is understood to be Stewart Whyte, 54.

Sussex Police say they are aware of the identity of the Northern Irish man but have not confirmed it.

No reason was put forward for the delay in naming the man.

It is believed the victim and the man arrested in connection with his death  knew each other.

The dead man was found by neighbours in a holiday flat in Kemp Town, near Brighton.

It had been rented from July 9.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “A 60-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of a man in Brighton has been released on bail until September 30.”

A postmortem was carried out in the days following the discovery of the body, but police say they were ‘inconclusive’.

Further toxicology tests are being carried out.
