Touché! Tory MP caught off guard by Emily Thornberry's comeback to Corbyn IRA links

A TORY MP was caught off guard when Labour Emily Thornberry delivered a comeback when challenged over Jeremy Corbyn’s alleged links to the IRA.

Sir Michael Fallon was left red faced on The Andrew Marr Show when his Labour rival revealed a visit by the Tory Defence Secretary to meet President Assad in 2007.

Thornberry was responding to Sir Michael’s accusation that Jeremy Corbyn had shown “quite open support for the IRA” in the years before he became Labour Leader.

But Emily Thornberry hit back with a cutting reply in which she asked what Sir Michael was up to on the day May 27, 2007.

Turns out he was visiting Syria to “celebrate” the re-election of Bashar al-Assad – who has been accused by numerous experts of committing war crimes against his own people.

The pair also clashed over the Falkland Islands, with Sir Michael saying that Labour welcome a renegotiation of the future of the territory with Argentina.

But Emily Thornberry again hit back at Sir Michael, accusing him of talking “b******s” – despite the programme being shown between 9am and 10am on a Sunday morning.
