CLUB NOTES

THOMAS McCURTAINS

The club would like to congratulate Catherine Barrett and Kellie Carr who helped London to a remarkable victory over Warwickshire in the All-British League. It was wins all around for McCurtains at the weekend as the hurlers, footballers and camogs got the better of their opposition. The hurlers overcame Kilburn Gaels B team to qualify for the semi-final of the Ronan Cup, while the footballers came out on top in a heated league fixture against Dulwich Harps. The Camogs continued their success as they won both their matches in the third round of the British League.

TIR CHONAILL GAELS

Congratulations to Tir Chonaill Gaels Juniors on their hard fought win over St. Claret's in the McArdle Cup Final. Well done to manager Paul Coggins, captain Ryan Kearney, backroom staff and to all the lads on the lifting of the silverware. The seniors lost out to a well organised St Kiernan's outfit in the semi-final of the Tipperary Cup at the weekend. The first-half was a pretty even affair with both sides going in level at the break, courtesy a goal from Eoin McGeehan. The Kiernan's dominated the second-half keeping the pressure on from throw-in to the final whistle leaving the final score at 1-14 to 1-04. Well done to Tir Chonaill Gaels Ladies who won their first round match in the Junior Championship at the weekend with an emphatic win over Heston Gaels. The Ladies are holding a fundraiser quiz this Saturday night, 14th May at Ryan's Bar from 7.30pm - £20 for a table of four.

The Tournament will be graced this year again by the presence of the Liam MacCarthy and Sam Maguire Cups.

LONDON LADIES BOARD

On Sunday at Wormwood Scrubs last year's champions Fulham Irish took on the runners-up Holloway Gaels, and it was a very different story this time out. With Holloway well in control at HT leading 2-7 to 0.01, Fulham got a little closer after the break, but despite two goals from county star Bridget Gallagher, could not close the gap. Holloway ran out winners on a scoreline of 5-08 to Fulham's 3-5. The other match at the Scrubs saw Tir Chonaill match up against Heston Gaels in the junior championship, with TCG claiming the match on a scoreline of 6-8 to 3-7. The final match of the day was in Reading where the hosts St Anthony's took on Tara at Kings Meadow. First half hat-tricks by Amanda Perill and Laura Quinn and a rocket from the returning Aoife Greene put the game to bed before HT. It is worth mentioning that county chairman, John Doyle, refereed the Fulham v Holloway game at the Scrubs and then made a mad dash through traffic to Reading to referee the St Anthony's v Taras match.
