CLUB NOTES

LONDON YOUTH COMMITTEE
The ever popular All Britain Competition (ABC) in the fifth year was held in Greenford last weekend from Thursday the 7th - Sunday 10th of July. The event attracted around two thousand youths participating from schools and GAA Clubs all over London, England, Scotland, and Wales and Cúchulainns from Ulster, a cross-community team in Derry. One hundred and fifty teams were playing Gaelic games in the competitions this year giving them the positive experience in playing for their teams and clubs in the ‘ABCs’. See page six for photos. The London Youth committee would like to wish our Under 16 and Under 18 teams all the best for this Saturday’s All-Britain Championship Finals against Warwickshire in Birmingham.

THOMAS MCCURTAINS
Thomas McCurtains hosts its annual Family Fun Day from 11am at Goodmayes on July 16. Activities include an underage hurling and football blitz followed by mens and ladies matches in the afternoon. Food and drink will be on offer throughout the day complimented by Irish dancing and music from international DJ Jeannette. There will also be a raffle to support the minor club with a pair of flights to New York from Heathrow (via Dublin) on offer. Hard luck to Gavin O'Flatherty, Richard Ellis, Philip Murphy, Kevin Delahunty and Mark Gilsenen on the London Junior County Panel who narrowly lost to Lancashire in the Provincial Junior Football Championship Final in Birmingham. Good Luck to Lancashire who play Kerry in the Junior All-Ireland Semi Final. Ladies Football training takes place on Tuesdays in Goodmayes pitch (IG3 8XJ) at 7pm and on Thursdays in East London Rugby Club (E15 3BP) at 7pm. Underage hurling: U8 to U14 training is on Mondays, underage football: U8 to U14 training is on Wednesdays – both at 7pm in Goodmayes pitch. All new players are welcome. Contact Martin McGovern on 07773 005 594 for details. Transport to and from training and pick-up from stations can be arranged, if required.

EIRE OG
Eire Og’s second side was defeated by KKG in an entertaining league encounter at Downhills. KKG dominated the opening half, but stern words at half time and a motivating whatsapp message from Brian Digney seemed to do the trick as Eire Og came out of the blocks in the second half and dominated the closing stages. The final score was KKG 2-19 Eire Og 2-9. Stand out players for Eire Og were Bren Farrell, Shay O’ Donoghue, Liam ‘hand pass’ Dunne and Tony ‘Brad Pitt’ Rogan. On Tuesday the first team play Naomh Padraig in their opening championship fixture at Downhills, while on Saturday evening the Galacticos travel to Tottenhal to play the Shamrocks in a mouth-watering North London Derby. Support welcome for both games. Training takes place Tuesdays at 7.30pm at Downhills Park, N17 6BP. New players are welcome - contact Jimmy Holly on 0785 854 7295 or go to www.eireoglondon.org

KILBURN GAELS
A disappointing weekend, as the intermediates could not field in their scheduled game against the Pearses and the seniors lost to the Cu Chulainns. The Cathalcycle fundraiser was a great success and the club wish to thank all those who attended, sold tickets or just helped in any way. Thanks also to all sponsors and helpers who helped make the club's annual golf day a success. The next committee meeting will take place on Thursday, July 14 in Tony's bar at 9pm.
