CARRICKFERGUS bodybuilder Jim Henderson died suddenly on Sunday just hours after competing at the World Championships in Malta.
Henderson finished sixth at the competition, but reports suggest he suffered a heart attack in his hotel room following the event.
Having secured such an impressive finish in the Championships Henderson, 54, then enjoyed a meal with his daughter Nicole to celebrate Father’s Day.
A statement released on behalf of the Henderson family said: “It was with unparalleled sadness that we have learned of the passing of James, a loving husband and father.
“James passed away in Malta where he had been competing in the world body building championships, representing Northern Ireland.
“While we deal with this devastating news, we the Henderson family and wider family circle, would respectfully request we are the given the appropriate time and privacy to do so.”
