Monaghan legend Conor McManus has confirmed that if things go his way in terms of rehab, then there could be a scenario where he lines out for Monaghan in the upcoming season.
McManus is 38, and his retirement from inter-county football is something that cannot be ruled out after 17 seasons.
However, McManus has spoken on Off The Ball's Football Pod this week and revealed that there are certain conditions that need to go his way in the next five or six weeks that will allow him to decide if another term with the Farney men is on the cards.
“It seems to be when you turn 30, those questions just seem to appear," said McManus this week.
“I still don’t really know. I sort of committed to doing a bit of rehab and a bit of strength work over the next five to six weeks; see how that goes.
“If I suppose it puts me in a position where I feel I can get through another year, I will, and if it doesn’t, I’ll probably leave it at that.”
McManus has also confirmed that he won't allow the decision to drag on and on, and he will come to a conclusion quickly during his rehab.
“So I suppose I’ll have to make that decision sooner rather than later. I don’t want to drag it on any longer than I need to, but I’ll give it a chance. I didn’t really do much until the club season was over there; obviously, we lost the county final, so I’ll sort of get into a block of that now for five or six weeks.”
