Denis Frimpong becomes first Irishman to win in OKTAGON MMA

On Saturday night, Denis Frimpong beat Slovakian veteran Jan Siroky via a unanimous decision in Newcastle on the preliminary card at OKTAGON 52. This was Frimpong's first win since losing to George Staines in November.

In what has been viewed as a massive shock in Europe, the Irishman was able to use his flashy striking and impressive defensive wrestling to take the unanimous decision. Frimpong, a Dublin native, landed 112 strikes in the contest and convinced all judges of the decision.

Following the victory, Frimpong, known for his brash trash talk, took to the microphone and called for his shot to be included in OKTAGON MMA’s Tipsport Gamechanger €1 million tournament.

Frimpong said, "I want to fight the best, and the best guys are in the Gamechanger, so let me fight them.

“There’s no Irish contingency there; I've just become the first Irish fighter to win in OKTAGON, so let me get in there and represent the Irish.”
