Six Irish shortlisted for Six Nations player of the tournament

SIX of Ireland’s title-winning squad have been shortlisted for the Six Nations player of the tournament.

Backs Rob Kearney, Brian O’Driscoll, Andrew Trimble and Jonathan Sexton have been recognised for their defensive performances, whilst forwards Cian Healy and Jamie Heaslip have also been acknowledged in the list 16-strong list.

England follows Ireland with four players nominated on the shortlist. France backs Brice Dulin and Yoann Huget, and two Wales players Taulupe Faletau and Sam Warburton, are also in the running, whilst Italy and Scotland can only claim one player each in the list of nominees.

Members of the public can vote for their player of the tournament here.

Voting closes at midnight tonight.
