THERE are three types of satire: Juvenallian, Horatian and Menippean.

I’ll admit that’s not the zingiest opener to a piece about comedy you’ll ever read, but there you go.

Truth be told, I’d no idea what those terms meant until I started writing this piece, with Uncle Wikipedia coming into his own. At least I’m honest.
