First trailer released for Irish EastEnders spin-off Redwater – and Ireland has never looked so moody

THE spine-tingling first trailer for the upcoming EastEnders spin off set in Ireland has been released, and all isn’t quite as it seems in the sleepy Irish village of Redwater.

The serial, set over six hour-long episodes, will follow much-loved characters Kat and Alfie Moon as they search for Kat’s long-lost Irish son.

When Kat and Alfie arrive in Redwater it slowly becomes clear that many of the residents are harbouring secrets that could yield dark consequences.

As Kat begins the search for the son she was forced to give up aged 14, she quickly finds herself drawn into a complicated series of shadowy events.

Filming for Redwater took place in Dunmore East, Co. Waterford last year, and the wild beauty of rural Ireland is certainly on show for all to see.

Judging by this trailer, the thriller has a distinctly un-EastEnders feel which should appeal to non-fans of the soap and Albert Square aficionados alike.

The series starts May 14.
