THE INTERNET has been thrown into disarray after a video of a woman's 'hack' for making mashed potato went viral.
The video, uploaded to TikTok by user @starley.reed, was met with some disgust on the video site-- but when it found its way to Irish Twitter, thing went completely downhill.
In the video, the woman shows her followers the "process" of making mashed potatoes, by pouring water into a pot (everything alright so far), putting the pot on the heat to boil (still, everything looks fine)-- and then dumping an entire packet of crisps into the pot.
The sheer image of crisps being stirred into boiling water is one that would be enough to turn your stomach-- but the chef isn't finished yet.
After boiling the crisps for five minutes, she drains it, adds some milk, grated cheddar, minced onion, garlic powder, salt and pepper before mashing it together and serving it on a plate.
Which she then eats. Happily.
Needless to say, the reactions have ranged from disgusted to-- well, even more disgusted, with one social media commenter stating it is "revolting" and she should be "locked up".
"I'm so enraged by this video like it's actually boiling my blood," another wrote, while one person said "This is an act of war."
Another said simply "What the jaysus."
Others, however, were impressed with the woman behind the recipe for thinking outside the box, with one man saying he "loved the experimentation".

One person seemed confused about how she felt about the whole thing, saying "I hate it so much that I want to try it immediately."
We're all for experimenting with new food, but this is one recipe we're definitely going to pass on for now.
