Radio presenter Christian O'Connell set to host Q Awards

RADIO DJ Christian O’Connell has been named the new host of the Q Awards 2014.

The Absolute Radio Breakfast Show presenter – whose family hails from Co. Limerick – will host the 25th anniversary ceremony of the annual music awards, which takes place in October.

And while he snapped up the opportunity to lead the prestigious ceremony, he claims he is already beginning to get nervous.

“When I was asked if I wanted to host it I jumped at the chance,” he explained.

“But now I’m starting to feel nervous about Mick Jagger walking out or something,” he added.

The radio favourite, who lives in Surrey, will oversee proceedings on the special anniversary of the ceremony, which started in 1990 - a milestone reached due to the ‘different’ nature of the Q Magazine title, according to O’Connell.

“Q Magazine isn’t a snobby magazine,” he said, “I can’t stand snobby magazines.”
