AN ALLEGED drunk driver escaped with his life from a serious car crash despite reportedly being nine times over the limit.
The driver, who has not been named, was arrested following the crash, which took place in Naas in Co. Kildare.
Shocking pictures of the crash show just how lucky the motorist was to escape relatively unscathed.
Though the details of his condition have not been released, he is said to have survived the incident.
Gardai shared the alarming pictures from the crash site, which show the extent of the damage incurred.
In the images, a mangled black car can be seen, resting on its site following a major collision.
The driver was arrested at the scene of the accident after officers discovered he was nine times over the legal alcohol limit.

A Gardai spokesperson: “This suspected ‘drunk driver” apprehended by Naas Roads Policing recently was very lucky to escape injury.
“Arrested & found to be 9 times legal alcohol limit.
“Investigations ongoing. Never ever drink & drive.”
The shocking images and extent of the damage done to the vehicle only serve to further highlight the need for motorists to stay alert.
