Angry bride calls-off wedding after guests refuse to pay €970 to attend

A DISGRUNTLED bride-to-be has gone viral after revealing she called-off her wedding when guests refused to pay a whopping $1,500 (€970) to attend.

According to a post first shared to Mumsnet and later shared on Twitter, a mystery would-be bride by the name of Susan from Canada cancelled her wedding in extraordinary fashion.

“It comes with great sadness that I am announcing the cancellation of my wedding,” she wrote.

“We managed to save up nearly 15K for a wedding.  Since our love was a fairy tale, we wanted an extravagant blow out wedding.

“I specifically, I mean SPECIFICALLY asked for cash gifts.  How could we have our wedding that we dreamed of without proper funding? We sacrificed so much and only asked each guest for around $1,500”.

Problems soon arose, however, when it became clear her friends and family were not willing to stump up the cash.

Her fiance’s family offered to donate $1,500 while, incredibly, her maid-of-honour offered $5,000.

Despite this, the engaged couple were shocked by the lack of cash donations they received in the replies to their invitations requesting funds.

“We sent out RSVPs and only eight people replied and sent us the check [sic],” she wrote on Facebook.

“We were f*cking livid”.

Unable to fund their dream wedding, things soon turned sour for Susan and her hubby-in-waiting after he suggested they go to Las Vegas for a quickie wedding.

That culminated in their eventual split.

Susan hasn’t got much in the way of sympathy though, especially after it emerged she would be heading off on a two-month backpacking trip around South America.
