Co. Down murder victim named as police renew appeal for witnesses

POLICE have revealed the identity of a man found dead at a property in Banbridge, Co. Down earlier this week.

The body of Richard Gerard Scullion, 55, was discovered at a house in Millmount Court at 4.50pm on Monday.

The PSNI, who are treating his death as murder, are continuing to question a 28-year-old man who was arrested on Monday night.

Detective Chief Inspector Eamonn Corrigan of the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch is leading the investigation.

“Earlier today we applied for and were granted an extension in relation to the suspect’s detention,” he said.

“I am renewing my appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch with us.”

Police would particularly like to speak with anyone who was in the area of Millmount Court on the evenings of Friday, July 6 and Saturday, July 7 and noticed anything suspicious.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1000 09/07/18.
