Daniel O'Donnell gatecrashes Sligo wedding to dance with mother of the bride

DANIEL O'DONNELL found a way to make one lucky couple's big day that bit more special after gatecrashing their wedding in Sligo.

The Donegal favourite stumbled upon the wedding reception while checking into his room in the city's Radisson Blu Hotel.

Clem Duke and Bernadette O'Dowd were enjoying their big day in the hotel's facilities when O'Donnell paid them a visit to wish them some hearty congratulations on their new union.

Keen to add something special to the occasion, O'Donnell then approached the mother of the bride, Attracta O'Dowd, for a dance, which she gladly accepted.

Footage of O'Donnell and O'Dowd soon found its way on to social media with wedding guest Suzanne McTiernan recording the occasion and uploading the footage to Facebook.

It was a wonderful gesture from O'Donnell - and he wasn't finished there.

Taking to the stage with his new dance partner, O'Donnell proceeded to perform along the reception's wedding band, The Weightless Astronauts.

It wasn't long before he had almost everyone in attendance joining in with a lively rendition of the song This Is My Homeland.

As wedding gifts go, O'Donnell's will take some beating.

It's the Irish singer's second surprise appearance in a matter of weeks.

Back at the start of September, O'Donnell decided to serenade an Aer Lingus passenger on a flight to Chicago by singing happy birthday over the in-flight intercom.

It was a memorable occasion for Annie, who was celebrating a milestone birthday at the time.
