The first trailer for the second season of Netflix's The Sinner has arrived

NETFLIX HAS released the first trailer for the hotly-anticipated second season of highly-addictive crime drama mystery series The Sinner.

One of the most talked about shows on the streaming service in 2017, the first season focused on Bill Pullman's Detective Harry Ambrose and his attempts to delve into the troubled past of a young mother, played by Jessica Biel.

At the start of the series, Biel's character Cora Tannetti attacks and fatally stabs a seemingly innocent a during a family trip to the beach.

Despite the ferociousness of her crime, Cora is unable to offer up an explanation as to why she committed the crime thought it soon becomes apparent that there is more to this case than meets the eye.

With Biel's storyline wrapped up, the second season will see Pullman's Detective Ambrose head back to his hometown back in New York to investigate another chilling case - parents murdered by their 11-year-old son, with no apparent motive.

As Ambrose realizes there's nothing ordinary about the boy or where he came from, the investigation pulls him into the hidden darkness of his hometown.

He's soon pitted against those who'll stop at nothing to protect its secrets - and a mysterious woman who proves to be a complicated, enigmatic piece to this haunting puzzle.

Gone Girl star Carrie Coon has joined the cast for the show's second season, which has already been earning rave reviews from those lucky enough to get a sneak peek.

Ben Travers of indieWire wrote: "Season 2 has enough going on it could spin off the rails, but the mere fact it has so much working for it thus far is a big win for everyone involved. The Sinner is no one-hit wonder."

The new eight-part series will land on Netflix this November 9th, meaning fans don't have long to get another fix of one of the most intriguing shows on television right now.
