Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a young man with critical head injuries in the West Cork town of Bandon in the early hours of this morning.
The young man was discovered unresponsive on the footpath of Chapel Street in the town at around 3.20 am.
He was taken to Cork University Hospital where he is still receiving treatment.
Gardaí have begun an investigation at the scene and have preserved the area for forensic teams.
