Footage of horse being ridden through pub in Ireland is branded 'mortifying' by animal rights campaigner

FOOTAGE of a horse being ridden through a pub in Dublin has divided opinion, with one animal rights activist branding it ‘mortifying’.

Regulars could have been forgiven for thinking they’d had too much to drink after seeing a horse being ridden through the venue.

According to the Facebook page Photos of Dublin, who posted the video, the footage was taken on Saturday, September 2 at the Cabra House pub, north of Dublin city centre.

The clip shows the pair cantering through the pub as locals cheer them on.

Radio host Adrian Kennedy was discussing the footage on Dublin Talks on 98FM on Tuesday, with listeners divided over the matter.

But after one caller described it as people just having a laugh, animal rights activist John Carmody said: “This is no laugh, I can assure you.

“I would call for this horse to be confiscated from this man that was sitting on top of the animal.

“It was mortifying, embarrassing and downright disrespectful to that poor creature."

He added: “We’re sick and tired of seeing these cases time and time again and it just seems to be getting worse.”

People commenting on the footage online described it as ‘cruel’, ‘shameful’ and ‘disgusting’, with others raising concerns over the horse’s appearance and welfare.

However a caller to Dublin Talks, who claimed to know the horse owner, said the animal was well fed and well looked after.
