Ireland’s unluckiest criminal? Man arrested after robbing shop with armed Gardaí inside

AN ARMED robber has been arrested in Ireland after he attempted to raid a store which had two Gardaí detectives inside.

The incident occurred at a Centra shop on Coultry Road in Ballymun, north Dublin at around 7.10pm last night.

The 29-year-old man was about to make his escape after he held up a clerk and took money from the cash register.

But unluckily for him, two armed detectives were in the back office reviewing CCTV footage of a previous crime at the store.

They saw the incident taking plane and ran out to confront the man, who was armed with a gun.

He escaped on foot but was found a short time later hiding in a garden shed.

The arrested man is currently being detained for questioning at Ballymun Garda Station.

Cash pertaining to the robbery was recovered during the search.

Gardaí said no shots were fired during the robbery, and that nobody was injured.

They added that a search of the local area is ongoing this morning for the firearm that was used in the incident.
