Irish dad primed for head shave to help send British-born daughter to Paralympic Games

A CRAWLEY-BASED Irish dad is doing a sponsored head shave next month to help send his Paralympian daughter to Rio this summer.

Crawley resident Katie-George Dunlevy has been representing Ireland in Paralympian cycling for some time and her father, John, is a native of Mountcharles, Donegal.

John goes to great lengths to ensure Katie-George can continue to compete for Ireland at the highest level and she will travel to Rio for the Paralympic Games having also competed in London 2012.

Katie-George competes on a tandem with her sighted pilot Eve McCrytsal on both the road and the track and has been training extremely hard for this summer's event.

However, the costs of competing are on the up, and with flights, accommodation and training expenses still to be accounted for, John is about to propel his efforts to new heights.

On Saturday, June 4, at the Emerald Club, Southgate Park, Crawley, John will have his head shaved before an audience, with all proceeds going towards his daughter’s expenses as an Ireland representative.

On the night, which will run from 7pm to midnight, there will be a barbecue with music and Irish dancing to follow on what promises to be fun occasion.
