Irish woman receives touching message 16 years after shoebox donation for charity

MOST children in Ireland, at one point or another, filled a shoebox with toys, sweets and clothes to send off to a disadvantaged child somewhere in the world.

Most of us probably thought nothing of it after sending it away – but to the children who received the gift, it was something they cherished.

This is perhaps best proven in the case of Galway woman Claire Fahy, who filled a box destined for Armenia for when she was eight years old.

Claire wrote a short note and put it into the box - little did she know the letter was kept by the boy who received it.

Now, after 16 years, the grateful child who received her gift has tracked her down and thanked her.

Claire shared a picture of the message she received on Facebook from Arsen Khachatryan, which outlined the long search he has had to find the right Claire Fahy.

Arsen managed to track her down on Facebook to personally thank her for the box and the letter he received all those years ago.
