'My little darlings' - Convicted drugs smuggler Michaella McCollum welcomes twins

FORMERLY CONVICTED Irish drugs mule Michaella McCollum has shared that she has welcomed a pair of twins with her partner.

The 24-year-old has given birth to week old twins after sharing photos of her growing bump alongside her boyfriend since January of this year.

The County Tyrone native was in fact pregnant when she hinted back in November of 2017 that she was pursuing a career in criminology following a failed attempt at appearing in ITV’s hit reality show I’m A Celebrity, 'Get Me Out Of Here'.

It's said producers of the show rejected McCollum for a place in the Australian jungle because they deemed she wasn’t "famous enough" to take part.

A source revealed that British broadcaster ITV did not want to be seen to be "rewarding bad behaviour."

McCollum shared a picture of the Oxford Handbook of Criminology alongside a number of printed notes with her Instagram followers to show her chosen career path.

She was released from prison in Peru in 2017 after being issued an early release from a six-year stint in prison due to drug smuggling alongside friend Melissa Reid.

The pair were originally arrested in August 2013 after being caught with 11kg of cocaine while waiting for a flight to Madrid.

The so-called 'Peru two' were headed for the party island of Ibiza, where McCollum moved in June 2013 to work as a bar dancer.

The young mum looks worlds away from her former days as a dancer and indeed a convict as she cuddles her new twins.

McCollum has yet to name her two new beautiful additions, but shared a video on Instagram of her brood.

Congratulations are most certainly in order for the Tyrone mummy.

My little darlings, 1 week today ❤️
