Man arrested after woman, 30s, 'brutally stabbed to death' inside Dublin flat

A MAN has been arrested after a woman was reportedly stabbed to death inside a flat in Dublin city centre.

The incident occurred at an apartment in the Bonham Street area of Dublin 8 at around 3.40am this morning.

Gardaí were called to the property and discovered a woman, aged in her 30s, with multiple injuries.

She was rushed to St James's Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

A man, also in his 30s, was arrested in connected with the incident.

He is currently being detained in Kevin Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The scene remains closed off and a number of traffic diversions are in place.

The Bridgefoot St, Usher St and Usher's Island areas of the Liberties and the quays in Dublin city centre have also been cordoned off this morning, with commuters asked to take alternative routes.

Gardaí have said their investigations are ongoing.
