Man to appear at Old Bailey charged with murder of Irishman John Martin

A MAN is to appear at the Old Bailey later today charged with the murder of Irishman John Martin.

Mr Martin, a 41-year-old who was originally from Co. Meath in Ireland, was stabbed in Kingsbury, north London on Sunday (August 7) and died at the scene.

Darryn Madigan, of Doreen Avenue, Kingsbury, was charged with his murder on Monday, August 8.

The 38-year-old appeared at Hendon Magistrates Court yesterday (August 9) and is due to appear at the Old Bailey, in central London, later today.

It's understood Mr Martin had been living and working in London for some time prior to his death.

In a statement made this morning, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Service said: "Officers investigating the murder of a man in Kingsbury have named the victim as John Martin who lived in Kingsbury but was originally from Ireland."

They added: "Detectives investigating his death, which happened Sunday 7th August, charged a man with his murder on Monday 8th August. Darryn Madigan, 38, of Doreen Avenue appeared in custody at Hendon Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 9th August.

"He was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday 10th August."
