AN ELDERLY man has died on the road following a collision.
The deceased crashed into a steel barrier with his vehicle before passing, it is believed.
The man was 77 years of age before his tragic death at 8am this morning.
He was in the area of Loughrea of Co. Galway before crashing on Barrack Street.
According to The Journal, people passing by attempted CPR on the man to revive him but were unsuccessful.
Authorities were called and the man was rushed to Portiuncula Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Gardaí in the area are currently appealing for information in relation to the incident.
